The Gender and Development (GAD) Center was established pursuant to Republic Act 7192 (an Act
Promoting the Integration of Women as Full and Equal Partners of Men in Development and
Nation Building and for other Purposes) and the Memorandum Circular of the National
Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the National Economic Development
Authority (NEDA) and the Dept. of Budget and Management (DBM) to implement the Philippine
Plan for Gender Responsive Development 1995-2025; and to institutionalize the
Institute’s commitment to mainstream gender and development in its policies and
programs.
Mission
To serve as the support structure for the efficient and effective mainstreaming of gender
plans, programs, and activities into the areas of instruction, research, extension, and
production in the Institute and the local community for the advancement of RA 7192.
Objective
- To make gender equality intrinsic in all programs and policies of the Institute;
- To develop and implement plans, programs, and activities (PPAs) that will advance the GAD perspective
among the Institute constituents; To promote GAD sensitivity and awareness within ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø-IIT through
training workshops and seminars
- To promote interventions and affirmative actions/programs for women constituents; and
- To integrate the delivery of GAD-related projects and activities in the delivery of extension services
in the community.
- To ensure equal access, opportunities, and participation for all, regardless of gender or disability
(PWD), by mainstreaming gender perspectives and addressing specific needs through policies, programs,
and projects.
