Over 800 ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT employees received their Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) bonus on December 16, 2024. This financial incentive highlights the successful negotiations between the university administration and the employees' association, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing working conditions and employee welfare.
The CNA bonus is funded through the judicious use of savings from Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), as prescribed by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). This method ensures that the bonuses are granted after securing the fiscal year's critical operational needs and implementing effective cost-saving measures.
The CNA, a result of months of discussions and planning, is designed to foster a more motivated and productive work environment at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT. This agreement covers various aspects of employment such as salary increments, health benefits, and professional development opportunities, with the bonus being one of the most anticipated components.
"The receipt of the CNA bonus is not just a personal gain for our employees but a testament to the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect that exists among the faculty, staff and administration of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT," said Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan. "This is about recognizing the hard work and dedication of the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT community who contribute tirelessly to the institute's aspirations and goals."
Employees expressed their joy upon receiving the bonus, which comes at a time when economical uplift is much needed. "Makahappy jud kaayo ang CNA,” commented a staff member who does not want to be named.
The CNA bonus is on top of the Productive Enhancement Incentive (PEI) of P5,000 and the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) pegged at P20,000, which are still to be received.
“As we distribute the incentives this year, we recognize their significance in supporting our employees' households, easing financial burdens and enhancing family welfare. This is more than a reward—it's an investment in the very heart of our community,” said Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Yaslani B. Bantuas.
The successful implementation of the CNA at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT serves as a positive example on the effectiveness of collective bargaining in achieving fair and mutually beneficial outcomes. The agreement not only underscores the importance of dialogue and negotiation but also the potential improvements in employee satisfaction and institutional productivity.
²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT is awaiting guidelines from the Department of Budget and Management for the gratuity pay of Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers of the University.
As ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT continues to set benchmarks in administrative excellence and academic leadership, the completion of this CNA cycle marks another chapter in its ongoing journey towards fostering an enriching and supportive workplace. The university plans to continue these efforts, ensuring that the terms of the agreement are upheld and that the work environment continually evolves to meet the needs of its dedicated staff.
