²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-Iligan Institute of Technology (²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT) senior Computer Science student John Robert Mamauag of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) and College of Health Sciences (CHS) sophomore student Mohammad Raafi Pangandaman both bag gold medals in the 2024 Dewfoam Mindanao Powerlifting Championships held at the Atrium Robinsons, General Santos City on November 23-24, 2024.
Mamauag who won three gold medals in the College, Junior, and Novice under 105 Kilograms categories also broke national records in the Novice and Collegiate categories respectively.
This also earned him the title as the Best Lifter of the powerlifting competition under the Men’s Junior division.
Pangandaman claimed two gold medals in the Junior and Collegiate categories under 93 Kilograms, and a silver medal in the Novice category Under 93 Kilograms.
He lifted 202.5 kg in the squat, 105 kg in the bench press, and 255 kg in the deadlift, earning 562.5 kg total lift in the three events.
The two ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT students managed to place first in the Collegiate Team category while placing second in the Novice Team category.
Both are now looking forward to competing again in the National Championships scheduled on February 21, 2025.
