On December 4, 2024, ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT faculty, students, and staff convened together in an  effort to consolidate and reflect on the various Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) programs, activities, and initiatives done by the University from 2022 to 2024 in the 2024 Annual Review on SDG Impact held at the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT Gymnasium and at the College of Engineering (COE) Building.

Led by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs and its WE CARE Office, this event sparked significant SDG discussions, featuring Keynote Speaker, Prof. Dr. Gobi Krishna Sinniah, a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor, Malaysia and a wide array of paper presentations, in which, a student category is introduced for the first time.

According to Dr. Rosario Reserva, WE CARE Director, the inclusion of a student category aims to inspire and encourage students to present their innovative solutions in addressing SDG-related problems. Dr. Nancy Echavez, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs, opened the program and reminded everyone of the “depth and breadth” of the extension projects.

“These projects are not merely initiatives on paper. They are the living embodiment of our collective dedication to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—aspirations that challenge us to envision and create a more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable world,” Dr. Echavez said.

Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan expressed his message of congratulations to the WE CARE Office of the OVCPA for organizing the event and emphasized the importance of rising above crises and the University’s role, through its extension activities and programs, in addressing community problems.

The discourse welcomed evaluators coming from different fields, Reggie Punongbayan, President of Chamber of Commerce and Foundation of Iligan, Inc; Jeffrey A Carin, from the Father Saturnino Urios University; Nivea Louwah Sermona, from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP); Gerrylou Sweet Pia, Supervising Science Research Specialist at the Department of Science and Technology Region 10, Provincial Science and Technology Office of Lanao del Norte; Melencio Jalova Jr. whose expertise is on Social Forestry and Environmental Governance; and Dr. Victoria Sumanpan from USTP.
