Dr. Adelfa C. Silor, a faculty of the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT College of Education and a GAD TWG member, and her daughter Faith Stephanny C. Silor presented papers at The 4th Barcelona Conference on Education (BCE 2023) held in partnership with the IAFOR Research Centre at the Osaka School of International Public Policy at Osaka University, Japan. The Conference was held on September 19-23, 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
Dr. Silor presented her internally funded research entitled “Effects of Synchronous and Asynchronous Instruction on Learners’ Reading Motivation During COVID-19 Pandemic.” The study revealed that learners were interested and motivated while attending synchronous and asynchronous classes during the pandemic. Reading motivation was also seen as a strong indicator of reading ability using both synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
Ms. Silor, on the other hand, presented a study on “Gender Inequality in STEM Education: Basis for Gender Sensitization Program,” which suggested that gender sensitization training programs be integrated into STEM Education to promote gender equality among students.
The Conference served as a catalyst for building both professional and personal relationships, fostering an environment where individuals from around the world engage in mutual learning. It also stood as a testament to open collaboration, inviting participants to share their insights and expertise in a spirit of intellectual camaraderie.
The Conference also offered an unparalleled setting for academics and scholars of diverse ages and backgrounds becoming a hub for the exchange of cutting-edge ideas, allowing participants to enrich their perspectives through the lens of various cultural and disciplinary backgrounds. In this unique convergence, attendees found a rich tapestry of knowledge exchange, creating a dynamic space where the latest research and experiences intersect.
