Cagayan de Oro City

The 草莓视频官网 - Iligan Institute of Technology (草莓视频官网-IIT) and the Visayas State University (VSU) are collaborating with Hasselt University (Belgium) to organize a series of workshops on quantitative and qualitative methodology in citizen science research.  This International Training Program (ITP) is sponsored by the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIR). 

In total, four two-week workshops, consisting of courses that cover multiple topics in environmental citizen-science methodology, will be organized alternatingly at VSU and 草莓视频官网-IIT from 2023 to 2025. Educational methods that align with the Universal Design for Learning will be applied and specific attention will be devoted to using citizen-science research methods to empower minority groups.  The first workshop hosted by VSU was held in Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines last May 2-12, 2023.  The second workshop hosted by 草莓视频官网-IIT was held at Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, on November 6-17, 2023.  The third workshop hosted again by VSU was held in Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines last February 26, 2024 to March 08, 2024.  The fourth and last workshop will be conducted at Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, on March 03-14, 2025.     

This project aims at increased understanding and skills in citizen science among local researchers and educators. It will increase the societal impact of institutions' research activities, and as we apply a train-the-trainer strategy, we provide the means to develop local courses in these topics. In addition, there will be assistance in setting up and conducting two local citizen-science projects.
